One of my lines of enquiry as a painter is developing an abstracted visual language to communicate my experience of the landscapes I see around me….
Beneath…
I’m currently working on a series of large expressive landscapes, which derive from my experience of walking the landscape…this one is still on the studio wall. ‘Beneath’ is about the rich depths of a lake I know well; deep and atmospheric, with rich darks and the sheen of glowing light. The painting is made in a large number of overlaid opaque and acrylic layers, built up over time.
Painted on a deep canvas with painted sides, ‘Beneath’ would hang beautifully without a frame for a minimal contemporary look, but would also suit a lovely floater frame.
Still on the studio wall, ‘Beneath’ is available now, please email me using the button below…it would add warmth and character to any room, and at 1 metre square would make a real impact

a day of water
A Day of Water is the second of this little series of new abstracts…
A Day of Water is about a hidden pond on one of my regular walks; tucked away and darkly enclosed, it’s always a place of calm and tranquility….the painting is made up of a huge number of layers of opaque and translucent paint.
It’s a real statement piece and painted on a deep canvas with painted sides, which means it would hang beautifully as it is or alternatively would look great in a contemporary floater frame.
