Art Workshops and Courses

Poplar Farm Studio is an ideal setting for Art Courses and workshops; purpose built and well equipped with lovely rural surroundings, including a small beck, paddock, and wildlife pond, but with excellent access between Harrogate and Ripon. The studio is very easy to find and has plenty of off-street parking.

Jo has a wealth of experience as both a professional artist and tutor, across all aspects of Art practice. She is passionate about helping people to realise their creative potential, and highly skilled at providing encouraging, supportive and personalised tuition within a relaxed atmosphere.

Practical courses normally have a maximum of 6 people, to ensure that everyone gets the very most out of their workshop or course, and day courses always include a delicious lunch, plus coffee, tea and cold drinks throughout the day.

**Access is easy and flat, and straight off the parking area. For printmaking courses only, delegates may need to use a print press which is up a short flight of steps.

Workshops for 2015

Silk Painting: Friday 3rd July 2015

All day workshop designed to get you started with painting on silk. Play with lots of techniques including working with Gutta, resists, wet into wet and so on, and make a sampler with notes so you can remember all the methods. Look at ideas for designs and colour schemes, then produce a small silk panel which you can mount up later!
All specialist materials and equipment; including dyes, paints, guttas and silk will be provided- just come along and give it a go!
Day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3.00pm, and a tasty lunch and refreshments throughout the day are included.
Fee for the day: £95.00 with a maximum of 6 places.

Painting in Acrylics:  Friday 17th July 2015

A wonderful day learning all the tips and techniques you need to get you painting fluently with Acrylics.
We’ll look at: choosing materials and equipment, layering, building texture, blending, working wet into wet, glazing, and using palette knives, blades and wedges and brushes too. Bring a sketchbook for all your notes, experiments  and samples which will be a fantastic resource for future use, and we’ll have a go at a small outdoor piece working direct if the weather allows, or  work inside if it pours!
All specialist materials and equipment; including paints, palette knives, brushes, papers and acrylic mediums will be provided- just come along and give it a go!
Day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3.00pm, and a tasty lunch and refreshments throughout the day are included.
