I specialise in working with clients who are keen to develop their own visual language, skills and artistic practice. This is an absolutely individual and bespoke process, which starts with exploring the client’s needs and objectives; finding out what makes them tick in fact, and then develops into a flexible programme of face to face tuition and coaching, which I can support with regular email contact, guidance and advice, to keep you going in between sessions.
One of the advantages of working in this way is that you avoid the inevitable pressures and frustrations of group tuition where people are at different stages in their development- in fact you can relax and enjoy learning at your own pace….I love seeing a person’s confidence and skills develop over time, and whether you have a degree in Art or are just starting out, this is a great way to inject freshness and vitality into your work, have fun learning, and make real progress too!
.I also take on (and hugely enjoy working with) a small number of A Level students who are looking for one-to-one support to maximise their potential, often with a view to university or art school portfolio preparation and application. Sometimes even very talented students get a bit lost in large school based groups, and I’ve seen first hand how much difference a genuinely individual approach really does make in honing and perfecting coursework, and also preparing for externally set, timed pieces.
I work from my comfortable, purpose-built studio which is in a lovely rural location between Harrogate and Ripon. It is just off the main road, so very easy to find, and there is plenty of off-street parking. For students I am about 2-3 minutes walk from a ’36’ Bus stop, which makes it ideal for after school sessions.
Please give me a ring or email me so we can talk things through..
