02 Apr Ripon and Rural Schools Painting Project
A group of Schools from around the Ripon area were able to work on a range of art projects thanks to funding from the Mukerjee Trust- my chance to work as artist in residence for this short project!
The abstract tree painting was by a pupil at North Stainley C E School-worked in acrylics on board, and it grew out of first hand studies made in charcoal.
The images below are a small selection of work from Grewelthorpe C E School. The work was made using acrylics on board and pupils were encouraged to focus on a very painterly approach; really thinking about how they applied the paint, how to use a limited colour palette, and the kind of brush strokes and palette knife marks they made. Final artwork was inspired by extensive research on the history of village buildings.
